Trauma Therapist

If you’re living with the effects of trauma—whether from a single event or long-term experiences—working with a qualified trauma therapist can offer the support, safety and understanding you need to begin healing. I’m Laura, a mental health therapist based in Herefordshire and online, and I specialise in helping people gently process trauma so they can feel more grounded, more in control, and more at peace.

What Does a Trauma Therapist Do?

A trauma therapist helps you work through distressing memories, emotional triggers and the long-lasting impact trauma can have on your mental and physical wellbeing. My approach is always gentle and paced around you. You won’t be asked to relive painful memories in detail unless you choose to—and I’ll never rush or pressure you.

Instead, we’ll focus on:

  • Calming your nervous system

  • Rebuilding a sense of safety in your body and mind

  • Reducing flashbacks, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm

  • Restoring your sense of self, stability and control

As a trauma therapist, I understand how trauma is held not just in the mind, but in the body—and I use techniques that are designed to help you move forward without retraumatising.

Signs You Might Need a Trauma Therapist

You don’t need a formal PTSD diagnosis to benefit from trauma therapy. You might find yourself:

  • Feeling constantly on edge or easily triggered

  • Experiencing flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive thoughts

  • Avoiding certain places, people or situations

  • Feeling numb, disconnected or emotionally shut down

  • Struggling with anxiety, panic or unexplained physical symptoms

  • Feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you

Trauma can show up in many different ways. If something still feels unresolved, a trauma-informed approach could help you begin to feel better.

“Just a little message to say a huge thank you. I certainly would not be where I am without having you to get me back on track”. (Read more on the Testimonials page.)
